Kelly Baird
Kelly Baird joined Newport Partners in 2004. Ms. Baird is Newport Partners Income Fund’s chief financial officer. Ms. Baird has more than 15 years of senior management experience in the investment industry. From 2002 to 2004, Ms. Baird worked as an independent financial and operational consultant. She held various senior operations and financial positions with Thomson Kernaghan & Co. Limited from 1999 to 2001. From 1997 to 1999, Ms. Baird held several senior positions with Connor Clark & Co. Ltd. and Connor Clark Private Trust. Ms. Baird was with the Canadian Investor Protection Fund from 1992 to 1997. From 1987 to 1991, Ms. Baird worked with Deloitte & Touche as an accountant.

William Brereton
Will Brereton has 10 years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Newport Partners, he was the founder and chief executive officer of a private investment firm specializing in the automotive sector. From 1997 to 2003, he held various senior positions at BMO Financial Group in the areas of investment banking and the private client group. Mr. Brereton graduated with a Masters of Business Administration degree in 1997 from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania and The London Business School, United Kingdom.

Douglas Brown
Doug Brown is one of the founders of Newport Partners with more than 20 years experience advising individuals and families on wealth management. Mr. Brown was called to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1985 and began practicing law at the firm Fasken & Calvin (now Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP). In 1994, he left his law practice to join Merchant Private Trust Company where he was managing director from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, Mr. Brown was appointed president of Merchant Private Trust Company and in 1999 the firm, re-named Connor Clark Private Trust, was purchased by Royal Bank of Canada and renamed RBC Private Counsel, where Mr. Brown was appointed vice-chairman. Mr. Brown sits on the board of directors of various private companies and charitable foundations. Mr. Brown received an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor.

Peter Churchill-Smith
Peter Churchill-Smith has more than 30 years experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining Newport Partners in 2001, he was a vice president with Connor Clark Private Trust (now RBC Private Counsel) and vice president of Mutual Securities Inc. and Mutual Trust Company. He also spent 10 years in the commercial lending business at both Morguard Bank of Canada and Mercantile Bank of Canada. Peter has spent the majority of his career with entrepreneurs with a special emphasis on assisting those who have sold a business. He has written several articles on the subject and most recently helped launch Newport Partners’ nationwide survey of business sellers.

Robert W. Clark
Robert Clark is a financial planner and insurance specialist with over 30 years experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Newport Partners in 2002, Mr. Clark was a partner in Life Equations, an independent insurance and financial planning firm that specialized in the needs of successful entrepreneurs and business owners. He designs unique insurance vehicles to help clients attain their personal, family and business objectives. Mr. Clark is a former president of both the Life Managers Association of Toronto and the Life Underwriters Association of Oakville.

J. David Cole
David Cole has 16 years experience in asset management and security analysis. Prior to joining Newport Partners in 2003, Mr. Cole was vice president and portfolio manager for McGee Capital Management since 1992, with responsibilities including asset mix, money manager selection and client relationships. Mr. Cole sits on the Board of Directors of Timbercreek Investments Management Inc., a private real estate investment company.

John M. Garrow
John Garrow joined Newport Partners in May 2002 and has 20 years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Newport Partners, Mr. Garrow was a managing director and co-head of the Financial Institutions Group at RBC Capital Markets, which he joined in 1990, where he was involved in capital raising and advisory assignments. He also worked in RBC Capital Markets' Calgary office and the Debt Capital Markets Group. Prior to joining RBC Capital Markets, Mr. Garrow was an accountant with Price Waterhouse.

Stephen R. Hafner
Stephen Hafner is an investment specialist with over 20 years experience in investment management and corporate finance. Mr. Hafner joined Newport Partners in 2003. From 1996 to 2003, Mr. Hafner was a vice president with TAL Private Management Ltd. where he was responsible for managing the personal wealth of individuals. Prior to TAL Private Management Ltd., Mr. Hafner worked with Connor, Clark & Co Ltd. and Barclays Bank of Canada.

Keith Halbert
Keith Halbert joined Newport Partners in August 2005 and is a senior member of the finance group. Mr. Halbert has over 20 years experience in senior financial roles in both the financial services and technology services sectors, and has primarily worked alongside the business founders in businesses ranging from early stage to established public companies. Most recently, Mr. Halbert was chief financial officer of Star Data Systems Inc., PSINet Canada Inc and Fusepoint Managed Services Inc. From 1977 to 1985 Mr. Halbert was employed in the audit divisions of Deloitte & Touche, Newcastle, England and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Calgary, Alberta.

Mark A. Kinney
Mark Kinney is one of the founders of Newport Partners with 20 years experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining Newport Partners, he was a vice president at RBC Private Counsel. From 1992 to 1999, he was a principal with Merchant Private Trust Company and Connor Clark Private Trust, which was acquired by the Royal Bank of Canada in 1999. He started his career in the investment industry at Canada Trust in 1989. Mr. Kinney is chair of Newport Partners LP’s Investment Committee. Mr. Kinney is the treasurer and a director of The Yellow Bus Foundation. He received an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from York University, and MBA (Finance) from McMaster University and is a CFA charterholder. He is also a current member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts, and is a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research.

Donald L. Lenz
Don Lenz has over 30 years experience as an investment banker advising some of North America's largest corporations. Prior to joining Newport Partners as a co-founder in 2001, he was vice president and director of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division of RBC Dominion Securities Inc. from 1986 and prior to that, was vice president corporate finance with Goldman Sachs & Co. from 1974. Mr. Lenz sits as a director on the board of Enmax Corporation and has served as a member of the board of directors of a number of Canadian public and not-for-profit entities.

David T. Lloyd
David Lloyd is one of the founders of Newport Partners and has over 25 years wealth management advisory experience. Prior to forming Newport Partners, he was a vice president at RBC Private Counsel, having co-founded its predecessor firm, Merchant Private Trust Company in 1991. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Lloyd was a partner at one of Canada’s first fee-for-service financial planning firms. He joined Clarkson Gordon in 1980 and began specializing in personal tax and financial planning in 1983. Mr. Lloyd has written articles that have been published in a variety of financial journals, including the Canadian Institute and the Insight Conference on Investment Strategy, and he has appeared on CBC Newsworld and Moneysworth. Mr. Lloyd has a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario and is a chartered accountant.

Bill Russell
Bill Russell is an investment professional with 12 years of investment management experience. He specializes in working with business owners, self-employed professionals and high net worth families. Prior to joining Newport Partners, Bill was a portfolio manager with a Toronto-based investment management firm and also worked as a broker with RBC Dominion Securities. Bill co-authored “Financial Planning for the Canadian Business Owner” and has appeared as a feature speaker for both public and corporate seminars. Bill sits on the Board of Directors for the Family Pension Advisory Group Inc., which is a group of accounting professionals dedicated to assisting self-employed business owners and professionals in their retirement transition.

Andrew Thomson
Andrew Thomson has more than 10 years investment industry experience. Prior to joining Newport Partners in 2007, he spent eight years at Mulvihill Capital Management as a fixed income trader, equity analyst, and finally as a portfolio manager for high net worth individuals and families. Mr. Thomson started his career at AGF Group of Funds and spent several years at Deloitte and Touche. He holds an MBA from The Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts, as well as The Association of Investment Management and Research in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Mike Vanderburgh
Mike Vanderburgh is an investment professional with more than 17 years of industry experience, specializing in the needs of high net worth clients. Prior to joining Newport Partners, he was vice president at BMO Harris Investment Management. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Vanderburgh was director, Investment Services for Wittington Investments, Ltd., the Weston Family’s principal holding company where he managed external portfolio managers in Canada, the USA and the UK. He is a current member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts, and is a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research.

Kelly Willis
Kelly Willis has 15 years experience in financial services marketing and communications. Prior to joining Newport Partners in 2002, she spearheaded the affluent market strategy for a major global bank. Kelly has worked for Fidelity Investments and as a consultant to leading firms such as Mackenzie Financial Corporation and BMO. Kelly comes from a family business background – a 100 year old company that is now in its fourth generation of family management.

Aubrey W. Baillie
Aubrey Baillie is executive chairman of Newport Partners Income Fund and one of the founders of Newport Partners, with over 35 years experience in the investment industry. He retired in 1999 as deputy chairman and chief operating officer of Nesbitt Burns Inc., having joined a predecessor firm in 1977. Mr. Baillie is a member of the board of directors of each of Ausnoram Holdings Ltd., Welton Energy Corporation and Blueback Ltd. He is a past chair of the Board of Trustees of United Way of Greater Toronto, chair of the Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Canada, Appleby College Foundation and a member of the Wellspring board of directors. Mr. Baillie holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, and is a chartered accountant.

P. Michael Nedham
Michael Nedham is a director and one of the founders of Newport Partners with over 35 years experience in the investment industry. He began his career in 1969 at Burns Fry and helped establish Canada's first mergers and acquisitions group in 1971. In 1986, Mr. Nedham left Burns Fry to co-found a mergers and acquisitions boutique, Lancaster Financial, which was sold nine years later to TD Securities Inc. After three years as managing director at TD Securities, he left to form Michael Nedham & Associates, a boutique investment firm focusing on entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized businesses. Mr. Nedham is on the board of all funds managed by Brompton Fund Management Ltd., Cinemavault International Releasing Inc., and is a past member of The Olympic Trust of Canada.

Peter L. Wallace
Peter Wallace is one of the founders of Newport Partners with 30 years of experience in the investment industry. He served as CEO and president of the Newport Partners Income Fund until December 1, 2008. Prior to founding Newport Partners, Mr. Wallace was president of Wealth Management at Canada Trust Financial Services. Prior to Canada Trust, Mr. Wallace was president of Midland Walwyn Capital Inc. (now Merrill Lynch Canada Inc.). He has been a governor of the TSX, a past chairman of Crescent School and is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.
